Mumbai 12th admission Online

12th admission in Maharashtra colleges go online

To make Class 12 admissions transparent, the Govt of Maharashtra has planned to make the Mumbai 12th admission online.

From academic year 2017-18, Class 12 admissions will be held online for all junior colleges; it would be the same like first-year junior college (FYJC) online process. By this, Mumbai Class 12 Online admissions would be transparent and it would put an end on donations and non-merit-based admissions.

Colleges are waiting for the official education department circular before implementing this change.Students who wish to switch colleges in Class 12 need to fill out an application form on the official portal mumbai.11thadmission.net.

Most of the students who are not satisfied with the college they have been allotted in the FYJC online admissions because of the choice or if the college is far from home or for any reason, change it in the middle of Class 11 or in Class 12 to secure admission at a college of their choice . Students approached individual colleges last time and as per vacancy they would be allotted a seat.

But starting this year, the Bombay high court has ordered offline admissions of any kind to shut. B B Chavan, deputy director of education, Mumbai region said, “We have stopped offline admissions entirely in Class 11 and Class 12. Colleges who have admitted students’ offline or do so in the future, would be asked to go for online admission once the 11th admission online portal opens.”

Less than 50% students continued in colleges given to them in the fyjc online process, last year. Mr. Chavan said, “Even after multiple FYJC online rounds so that 100% admissions takes place, we find students change colleges’ offline after Class 11, thus making the entire online admission process worthless". The education department held nine rounds of FYJC admission in 2016.

Mumbai colleges are in a mess as they have not been informed by the department via an official circular yet. Sathaye College, Vile Parle, is accepting student applications, but admission process is on hold. Kavita Rege, principal of Sathaye College, Vile Parle said, “We were informed about the change in 12th admission process around eight months ago, but we have not got any orders from the government yet on how to implement it,”. Vidyadhar Joshi, principal, Vaze-Kelkar College, Mulund, said class 12th online admissions in Mumbai will make things easier and simpler for students as well as colleges.

FYJC Online Admission Process 2017-18 New Rules

FYJC Online Admission Process 2017-18 New Rules

MUMBAI SSC students who will soon be applying to first year junior college - FYJC online admission process 2017-18 can expect some confusions arising as the process for online fyjc admission is undergoing major changes. The education department is still doubtful about various changes that were announced last year.
Education officials are concerned about the new rules. As per one rule, additional marks in board exams would be granted to students who make a mark in cultural activities. This could result in getting a double advantage for students as there is already a quota during the fyjc admission. Similarly, students who excel in sports would be given extra marks as well as a quota is also reserved for them. The education department needs to clear this if this is allowed or not. 2% seats are reserved for students excelling in arts and culture and 3% seats are reserved for sportspersons out of the total FYJC seats every year.
As the new fyjc online admission process includes setting up a new website via a Noida based company and extending the process to other parts of the state, students might have to bear a higher fee during the admissions. "From 2017-18, the information booklet might be split into two parts so that local variations could also be included in the process. Students will be filling up new options for each round. So, it seems that this year students might have to pay higher fees for the fyjc online admission process," said an official. Students had to pay Rs 150 for the information booklet till last year, and a user Id and password was given to the students.

The students won't have the betterment option from now onwards. "Many students seek provisional admission and wait for a better choice of college but from 2017-18, they will not get this chance of betterment. This definitely will not be acceptable to parents and students. The state's audit of the fyjc online admissions was not sufficient. "The state did not published any report in public domain nor it tells  any mistakes neither hold anyone responsible," said Vaishali Bafna, System Correcting Movement (SYSCOM).

FYJC Online Admission Changes 2017-18
The online fyjc admission process is now extended to more cities in the state

No name for Sakshi Rajwani in the First FYJC Merit List despite getting 99.8%

Director of Education office, Maharashtra declared the fyjc first merit online for admission to First Year Junior College (FYJC) on Monday June 27, 2016 at 05:00 pm for Mumbai as well as Pune Region. FYJC second merit list and FYJC third merit list will be announced on July 04 and July 11 respectively. The authorities are planning to release FYJC fourth merit list 2016, if it goes that way, the board will make an official announcement in the coming days.

A girl topper of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination, did not get admission to any junior college of her choice. Whats more, she did not even get a seat/got her name in the first fyjc merit list declared on June 27. The reason for this is seems to be an error on the school's part i.e., her application was left blank. This would have resulted in wasting this academic year if it was not found. You will be surprised to know Sakshi Rajwani who scored 99.8%, is the highest in the city. The highest score that was mentioned in the first fyjc merit list was 99.4%.

It was found out that the school reset her form while online submission on the date of June 16 which deleted the details entered into it. In the later investigation, it was found that her form had been reset from a school log in. Sakshi would have lost her academic year if this big error had not been corrected on time as First Year Junior College (FYJC) admissions via the open category or quota are done online mandatory.

Though the students were given time on June 21 and June 22, for any corrections but now its too late. As on these 2 days, Sakshi would jave corrected the forms so, as she has not done at that time, She will be able to apply to junior colleges again only after July 15, when the online fyjc admission process gets over.

Out of the 2.2 lakh applications received online, 1.84 lakh students secured first-class scores whereas more than 47,000 students made it to the first fyjc merit list and the first merit list cutoffs for admissions to first year junior colleges (FYJC) in Mumbai were somewhat higher than last year’s, particularly for the Arts and Commerce streams.

Over 2.21 lakh students registered in FYJC Mumbai this year and about 72,106 students registered for FYJC Pune. About 5 thousand applications by students were received by FYJC Mumbai after the dates were extended by two days to submit forms. So, the number grew to 2.22 lakh from initial number of 2.17 lakh.
